Every time I shoot a Houston high school senior I get so excited I can barely contain it—and Jewel’s sweetness and humility were magical. When I applied her makeup at the beginning of our afternoon shoot she played it cool—just another regular day after school—but once she saw her makeup in the mirror she got a twinkle in her eyes and squealed, “Oh, Ms. Tomayia, I look so pretty!” She quickly changed into her vintage ruffled dress and gave it a whirl like she was living a dream—her dream of an amazing senior portrait experience! We added the perfect location—an open field—and two of my vintage props, an ammunition box and a hot-pink 1950’s bike (my favorite!), to match her warm, classic style and make her shoot one of a kind. Once we arrived at our location, Jewel channeled her inner Tyra Banks and gave it her all! And it turned out great: her images are breathtakingly gorgeous! I can’t wait until part two of her senior session this spring!
